So what was it that really set off the riots you saw in the popular press at the Basij Military Base in Iran? The dramatic footage of the soldiers atop the base’s walls and rooftops shooting down on a civilian crowd were aired world wide. That footage, originally sent to ABC News, was taken by a photographer on the scene.
What is missing are the rest of the camera shots they took: video of violent crowds attacking the base with molotov coctails, turning over parked cars–one man even, apparently, attempting to steal one. That footage wasn’t shown, so the images of the soldiers defending their base against a riot were transformed into the evil regime’s henchmen firing into an unarmed crowd.
